Bartimaeus was built (for the original owner) to go to Llangollen. We started the year near the end of that canal, so it seemed rude not to go ourselves.
Other plans pencilled-in for the year had to be reconsidered in light of breaches in two nearby canals - each forming the obvious diversion for the other.
The dominant story of the summer was low water levels. If we had been able to reach the trans-Pennine canals, we could well have found ourselves stranded on them.
Our cruising ended a little earlier than most years back at Droitwich Spa Marina where our adventure started. Bartimaeus was craned out of the water and driven away to be upgraded over the winter.
